Piedmont Hills High School will hold its graduation ceremony tonight at the San Jose Event Center, located on the campus of San Jose State University at 290 South 7th St.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and the ceremony begins at 6 p.m.

More than 480 graduating seniors will participate in the ceremony, with more than 4,000 friends and family expected in attendance.

The procession of graduates will be accompanied by the Piedmont Hills Wind Ensemble playing the traditional song "Pomp and Circumstance."

Student Kami Spampinato will sing "America the Beautiful," and the welcome address will be given by Quyen Ngo and Melissa Yong.

Each of the valedictorian candidates Elena Chit, Hugh Pham, Sarah Tang, Khoi Tran, Rachel Turner and Gloria Wu will deliver speeches to fellow graduates and the audience.

Yong will present the senior class gift to 2008-2009 student body president Samantha Lu.

Principal Traci Williams will present the graduates. East Side Union High School District Board of Trustees members Eddie Garcia and J. Manuel Herrera will be on hand, along with Assistant Superintendent Jerry Kurr, to officially accept the class of 2008.

The graduates will exit the event center, and guests are invited to meet the graduates outside the event center entrance bordering 7th Street. Guests are not allowed on the floor of the event center. Guests are advised to park in the nearby 7th Street Garage.

Tickets are required for each guest, and each ticket-holder is guaranteed a seat for the ceremony.

Independence High School held their graduation ceremony Wednesday at Independence Stadium.
